How to register your TSP in MOTUS

Five steps you do in the FMCSA Portal and MOTUS. One step where you hand it to us.

    Confirm your FMCSA Portal account

    Log in at portal.fmcsa.dot.gov. Accounts archive after 12 months inactive.

    Match Company Official to Login.gov

    The Company Official must use the same Login.gov email in the Portal as in MOTUS.

    Complete your Biennial Update

    Verify name, address, ownership, insurance, and users in the MCS-150.

  4. 4

    Claim your USDOT in MOTUS

    At motus.dot.gov, create your profile and claim your existing USDOT.

    Add authorized users

    Each user gets a unique Login.gov profile with per-user permissions.

    Designate TSP #7020956

    Authorize DOT Compliance Group to manage filings on your behalf.

Who has to use MOTUS?
Interstate motor carriers, CDL trucking companies, passenger carriers, freight brokers, freight forwarders, and Mexico-domiciled carriers operating in the U.S.
What is a TSP?
A Transportation Service Provider — an authorized third party that manages your FMCSA registration on your behalf. DOT Compliance Group is TSP #7020956.
Will my USDOT number change?
No. USDOT, MC, FF, and MX numbers stay valid. BOC-3 and insurance filings are unchanged.
When does MOTUS go live for everyone?
Phase 1 (December 2025) opened for insurance, sureties, and BOC-3 filers. Phase 2 expands to all motor carriers, brokers, and forwarders in mid-to-late 2026.
