Drug-Free Workplace Program

An employer puts a DFWP into place to drug test their “non-DOT regulated” employees. Having a DFWP in place has been shown to improve morale and productivity among the workforce. It has also been shown to cause a decrease in absenteeism, workplace incidents, injuries, and theft, to name a few. These tests are conducted by the employer’s authority, depending on the laws of their State. The employer will decide how to manage and run their testing program. They can test urine, hair, or saliva, again, depending on their State’s laws and regulations. Drug-Free Workplace Programs are “less” regulated than USDOT-regulated testing. Still, both are effective ways to maintain a safer and more productive workplace.
