Pennsylvania Permits for Heavy Vehicles
Annual Permit
- Dimensions:
- Width: Up to 14 feet.
- Loads wider than 14 feet have an additional cost of $75.
- Cost: Depends on the commodity.
- Special mobile equipment with overweight axles: $300 annual permit fee.
Super Load (Code 64):
Single Trip:

- Preliminary Fees: $54 + $10 per county.
- Permit Fees:
- $37 (if load is ≤ 14′ wide) + $0.04 per ton-mile.
- $78 (if load is > 14′ wide) + $0.04 per ton-mile.
- Additional fees could apply based on specific conditions or further requirements.
Vehicle (Oversize) (Code 66-A):
Single Trip:

- $37 (if load is ≤ 14′ wide).
- $78 (if load is > 14′ wide).
These fees provide guidance for operators moving oversize vehicles or super loads through Pennsylvania, including the potential for additional fees based on ton-mile calculations.
Manufactured Houses and Mobile Homes
Covers the movement of mobile homes, modular housing units, and undercarriages that:

- Do not exceed 80 feet in body length, 14 feet in width, and 14 feet, 6 inches in height.
Requirements:
- Antisway Devices:

- Required if the total width exceeds 13 feet unless the speed limit is below 40 mph.
- Vehicles with four tandem axles and brakes on each wheel are exempt from this requirement.

- Weight Limit:

- The combination weight must not exceed the towing vehicle’s registered gross combination weight or gross combination weight rating.

- Roof Eave Overhang:
-
- A mobile home or modular housing unit can exceed the 14-foot width by up to 6 inches for roof eaves, but the total width (including eaves) cannot exceed 14 feet, 6 inches.
- Roof eave overhang greater than 3 inches must face the right side of the highway.

- Oversized Mobile Homes:

- If a mobile home exceeds the 14-foot width limit, it can only operate to return to the manufacturer or another designated location.

- Permit Fees:

- $41 for units 14 feet or less in width.
- $80 for units exceeding 14 feet in width.

Pennsylvania Fuel Permits
Fuel Permit – Non-IFTA member motor carriers must obtain trip permits for interstate travel through IFTA member jurisdictions. Required for vehicles over 26,000 lbs that are not registered and need temporary interstate travel.

- Two axles and a gross vehicle weight over 26,000 lbs.
- Three or more axles, regardless of weight.
- Vehicle combinations exceeding 26,000 lbs.
- Cost: $73 for a Pennsylvania trip permit, valid for 5 days.
