Maximum Legal Weights (State and Designated Highways)

- Max. Load per Tire: 800 pounds per inch of width or manufacturer’s tire rating.
- Max. Wheel Load: 11,200 pounds.
- Max. Weight on One Axle: 22,400 pounds.
- Max. Weight on Two Axles (less than 8 feet apart): 36,000 pounds.
- Note: Axles less than 46 inches apart are considered one axle.
- Max. Weight on Two Consecutive Axles (8-10 feet apart): 40,000 pounds.
- Max. Weight on All Axles: 80,000 pounds.
For vehicles under 71,000 pounds, either:

- Total axle weight must not exceed 34,000 pounds + 1,000 pounds for each foot from the foremost to the rearmost axle.
