Oversize and Overweight Regulations

  • Legal Width: 8’6″
    Max Permissible Width: 16′
  • Legal Height: 15′
    Max Permissible Height: 16′
  • Legal Length (Trailer & Load): 53′
    Truck-Tractor Semi-Trailer Combos: Legal 65′ (max permissible 75′)
  • Length for Auto/Boat Transporters: Legal 75′ (including overhang), max overhang 3′ front and 4′ rear
  • Stinger-Steered Auto Transporter: Legal 80′, max overhang 4′ front and 6′ rear
  • Weight: Axle weight not to exceed 22,400 lbs; no maximum permissible weight limit

Missouri Oversize and Overweight Permits 

  • Single trip oversize permits: $15
  • Single trip oversize permits exceeding certain dimensions (16’ wide, 16’ high, 150’ long): $15 plus a $250 feasibility fee.
  • Multi-stop oversize permit: $25 (for farm implements only).
  • Single trip overweight permits up to 160,000 lbs gross weight: $15 plus $20 per 10,000 lbs over legal gross weight.
  • Single trip overweight permits exceeding 160,000 lbs: $15 plus $20 per 10,000 lbs over legal weight, with additional bridge and roadway analysis fees:
    • $425 for trips between 0–50 miles
    • $625 for 51–200 miles
    • $925 for over 200 miles.
  • Annual blanket emergency overweight permit (round trip): $624 (prorated quarterly).
  • Annual blanket oversize permit (single commodity): $128 (prorated quarterly).
  • Annual blanket oversize permit (multiple commodities): $400 (prorated quarterly).
  • Annual blanket—longer combination vehicle: $128 (prorated quarterly).
  • Annual blanket overweight permit for well drillers, concrete pump trucks, or crane permits: $300 (prorated quarterly).

Missouri Trip and Fuel (IRP / IFTA) Permits

72-Hour Reciprocity Permit:

    • Required for: Carriers from other jurisdictions not properly licensed to travel in Missouri.
    • Fee: $10.00
    • Validity: 72 hours, vehicle-specific, allowing inter/intra-jurisdictional movements.

72-Hour Special Fuel Trip Permit:

    • Required for: Vehicles not registered for IFTA.
    • Fee: $10.00
    • Validity: 72 hours, vehicle-specific, and needed prior to entry or re-entry into Missouri.

72-Hour Trip Permit:

    • Purpose: Replaces a Missouri intrastate sticker (does not replace intrastate authority).
    • Fee: $10.00
    • Validity: 72 hours.

Missouri Manufactured Houses and Mobile Homes

Annual Permits:

    • Max width: 12′ 4″
    • Max length: 150′
    • Height and weight: Must be legal.
    • Fee: $128 (prorated quarterly). This is an annual blanket oversize permit for a single commodity.
